I do not wish speak of nature

I do not wish speak of nature

I do not wish to speak of nature:

it speaks for itself.

I seek the memory of what has been forgotten:

to lend my ears to the inaudible

and bow before silence.

— To reach the frontier that leads beyond the impassable!

Perhaps it is not a mere desire.

Nor is it a matter of intoxication.

It is the soul’s thirst,

which nature cannot quench.

— It is to seek the meaning of emptiness

in order to fill the emptiness of meaning!

Let the world make its plea:

it may be sensible,

insistent or moving.

Yet there is no appeal in the world

that could make me trade

the lucidity of awakening

for the sleep of illusion.
