Prisoners From Birth
We have all been born into a body searching for freedom. Mostly we were not conscious of the fact but if we search deeply within ourselves we will see snippets of evidence all throughout our life. Times of supposed happiness and joy suddenly turning into despair, sorrow, disappointment when things did not go as planned, when suddenly our expectations were no longer fulfilled. When we wanted to give up or start all over again. When we asked “why?” “What is happening?” Or the opposite occurs – we were steeped in sorrow, disquiet, lack of joy and suddenly, from somewhere else, a tiny spark of joy emerged, completely unrelated to the circumstances we may have been experiencing at the time. Again “why?” “What is happening?” But life goes on, back to so-called normality, and we continued on. This happens many times in our lifetime and life itself is so overpowering, happy or sad, that we soon forget about it, we soon forget these snippets. But do we forget them?
Do they not return, even if briefly, in one way or another, as reminders? Reminders that we are going the wrong way, in the wrong direction, that there might be another way? And there is illness also as a reminder, when long or short periods of inactivity provide the opportunity (if we are able to take advantage of them) for reflecting on life, often a major snippet. Are we, in all these experiences, being reminded of another state, a state that can penetrate our current reality? This might result in us being reminded of being prisoners in this world, within our own world, within ourselves. Encapsulated as it were in a realty that we have been born into, have created, have built our life upon? Might there be another way? As life continues on, as things become more and more dismal when we look around us, we hopefully perhaps begin to ask ourselves that question more and more distinctly, more and more often.
Is there another way? Perhaps we can begin to see how locked in we have become, reminded from time to time by these snippets, snippets of another reality. We begin to desire not only the snippets, but what they represent, what they are inviting us to seek. That there is a way out, another opportunity, a different way of looking at life, from within and without. At our attitudes, our feelings, our thoughts. At our world and what we are doing to it. An “escape hatch”, right here within ourselves, within our current life. An escape hatch to a very different reality, a divine reality, that can only be opened and accessed by our longing. Our longing for something totally different. That longing is there within every one of us, deeply hidden, just waiting.
Look within .
Look when you are ready to do so and you will find it!!
