To Keep Going, That’s All…

To Keep Going, That’s All…

There is no arrival or departure, only a continuous flow of renewal.

In the words of Belchior, a composer and singer from Ceará,

what was new yesterday is old today, and we all need to rejuvenate.

Although there is in us a tendency toward a certain crystallization, nothing remains motionless or, unchanged, for life is a mill: everything grinds and renews.

A moment of stability or rest is just an opportunity to take a breath and move on.

Is there any sense in this flow?

Of course there is… The reason for the facts always ends up explicit to us.

Albert Camus, a French writer and philosopher, says in an excerpt from The Myth and Sisyphus:

Scenarios collapsing is something that happens. (…)

One fine day, the ‘why?’ arises and everything begins to enter into a lassitude tinged with astonishment. After the awakening comes, with time, the consequence.

Despite the continuous change, sometimes the feeling is that time has stopped…

Camus adds:

Sometimes to continue, just to continue, is a superhuman achievement.

However, we are not always comfortable with change. We prefer to cling to stability and the illusion that we can control the flow of life.

Because we don’t accept that we are really fragile, we are afraid of being “crushed” by events.

However, if we look at the intrinsic nature of this world, we will find that change is its hallmark as well as a great blessing.

We are born, grow up and experience all the wonders of living, but we need to be aware that we are not here to stay: we are just passing through.

We move on. What will come we don’t know, but it doesn’t really matter.

It is only up to us to accept and to understand the instability of things; and to experience, without fear or worry, all that is in store for us. It may not be easy, but it is necessary, it is fundamental.

In short, “to continue, just to continue, is a superhuman achievement.”

The night fades

The sun lights up the world

And life takes its vibrant course

in a constant lapidary.

Where is it all going?

We don’t know,

You don’t even have to.

All you have to do is keep going

And feel that everything has a purpose

And every change has its innermost meaning…
