Longing – a Doorway to Freedom

Longing – a Doorway to Freedom

A memory of a sense of freedom

A human being, a human being of the earth, is born with a longing. A curiosity, a desire to explore, know more of the reality surrounding them. A reality they will come to know as life, life in its many, many variations.
A human being, an earthly human being, also carries within them an intuitive knowing, a memory of another reality, a longing for a reality not of the earth. A higher reality protected within. The longing, the desire to explore that higher reality is mostly clouded, overshadowed from birth onwards, by influences from the reality of the earth.
The earthly state of consciousness is mostly determined by a desire for whatever presents itself on the path through life. Unless fortunate enough to have access to an environment that supports the intuitive longing, the innate memory, the state of consciousness inevitably becomes that of the earth, of whatever meets the respective human being’s many needs. Intrigue, fascinations, joys and sorrows. Or so it appears.
As life progresses the desires change, the world changes, the state of consciousness changes. Over time, perhaps much time or even many lifetimes and much experience such as in today’s world, desires may start to recede, become less of importance. A struggle for life ensues, a struggle to maintain whatever state of consciousness is perceived as real. Perspectives change, life-state changes, earthly desires take on a deeper, more introspective meaning. There can be a turning away, maybe gradual, maybe quickly, from the outer attractions, a turning within. The intuitive inner longing from the beginning, the memory of something different, a memory of a sense of freedom, can emerge, awaken from its slumber, and become a doorway, a doorway of longing, a doorway to freedom.
