Going Home

Going Home

We all have an inner driver to take us there.

“Rough Road Ahead” reads the signpost. Simeon hesitated. Should he continue? Turn back? He has longed to take this trip for as long as he can remember. More than that he suspects he has yearned for it a lot longer, beyond what he can consciously recall. A subconscious recognition from within. That longing has motivated his whole life, from the moment he popped out from his mother’s womb until right now. Every memory of his life, right up until this present day, every dream he has had, can be traced back to some sort of inner motivating force propelling him forward, protecting him. And now here is this sign at the side of the road “rough road ahead”.

So where is he going on this road, this road that he relates to as his road through life? What is he aiming for? What is this inner force, this power driving him on? His inner driver that he has come to recognise and listen to whenever his busy life has provided the opportunity, the space, for it to be heard? It has been there forever it seems, even as a young child, advising him, correcting him, directing him. Pushing him onwards, picking him up when he has fallen down, when he has been in deep despair. Bringing joy as well, a deep mysterious exhilaration arising from within, often unrelated to whatever he happened to be doing. An urge to go somewhere, do something, be somewhere else. But where or what he could not recognise, could not grasp.

He has seen that signpost before at the side of his road. It has surged into his consciousness, his dreams, his reality many times before whenever he has been tempted or drawn into taking a path leading away from his inner knowing, leading him yet again to more of the delusion of life surrounding him. Warning him, advising him, protecting him. Always just in time. The road has often become rough, challenging, difficult but there has always been a lesson involved, something he has needed to recognise and experience before he could proceed onward, could continue on his path. He has come to accept the helpfulness of the sign. It’s useful quality, its ability to smooth out the path, his road, whenever he has managed to follow it, to not turn back or away. Once again, passing the sign today, he continues on.

Are you perhaps familiar with Simeon’s experience? It’s in fact more common than one realises, not necessarily recognised in today’s busy lifestyle. Is there something within you that keeps you “on track” despite all odds, correcting, advising, subconsciously directing your next move? If you recognise this process be praised, be grateful that a force, a force not of this world can reach you, can awaken you to a totally different path, a different reality. It may be just a minuscule presence, but nevertheless it’s there. Waiting for you to listen at last (it has never not been there!), to recognise, to realise and in doing so allow it to grow. To feel and experience its presence. A wise inner driver, an inner companion.

At this period of time when the world is undergoing great turmoil and change on so many levels, many people are undergoing their own turmoil and change, their own experience of waking up. Spiritual forces are coming to the fore, radiating ever more powerfully in the current Aquarian era, calling us. Calling us to where? To going home, to our spiritual home.
